With such a thick coat of fur, Maine coons require regular grooming to prevent matting. For some Maine coons, this grooming routine will include bathing. Bathing is particularly important for elderly or poorly coons who are unable to groom themselves properly.
It is important that you do not use shampoo designed for humans when bathing your cat as this can irritate their skin and eyes due to different pH levels. For this reason you should also use specifically designed shampoos when bathing Kittens rather than an adult cat as they are much more likely to have a sensitivity to the shampoo.
